Verizon Wireless/Golden State Cellular

General Information

Has Verizon Wireless purchased Golden State Cellular?

Verizon Wireless recently completed its purchase of Golden State Cellular, a wireless operator in the California 3-Alpine market, which includes the following counties:
    • Alpine
    • Amador
    • Calaveras
    • Mariposa
    • Tuolumne
During the coming months, Verizon Wireless will begin to introduce this market to America’s Most Reliable Wireless Network.

Are Verizon Wireless and Golden State Cellular one company now?

Following approval by the FCC, Verizon Wireless has closed its purchase transaction and now owns Golden State Cellular and the California 3-Alpine market license. However, the acquired wireless business in this market will continue to do business as Golden State Cellular until the operations are integrated and the customers are transitioned to Verizon Wireless systems.

Can Verizon Wireless customers now receive service at a Golden State Cellular store in California?

Not at this time. During the coming months, Verizon Wireless will be enhancing the network and preparing to move Golden State Cellular customers to the Verizon Wireless billing system. Until that work is complete, current Verizon Wireless customers won’t be able to receive account service at a Golden State Cellular location.

I am a Golden State Cellular customer and need information about how this purchase affects my service. Where can I find it?

Golden State Cellular customers in the market acquired by Verizon Wireless don’t need to take any action at this time. Your Golden State Cellular calling plan and features will remain the same through the transition period. You’ll be notified in advance if there are changes to your calling plan or features.

Golden State Cellular customers can find more information about the acquisition and how it may affect their service by visiting www.goldenstatecellular.com or by calling Golden State Cellular Customer Service at 1-800-453-8255.
