ASUS ZenPad™ Z8s - View / Extend Battery Life

Here's how to extend battery life, view charging status / remaining battery and determine what uses the most power on your ZenPad Z8s.
  • Battery life is measured by standby time and usage time.
    • Standby time is the amount of time the device stays powered on with no voice, data or other usage.
    • Talk time is based on voice usage.
    • Data usage such as web browsing, apps, or streaming reduces overall talk time.
  • Apps and processes are listed from highest to lowest percentage of power consumption. Review any high or unusual battery drain.
  1. From a Home screen, navigate:
    Apps icon Apps icon
    Settings
    Battery
    (Device section).
  2. Review the current battery status.
Percentage indicates the remaining battery life, charging status.
"Charging" is only displayed if device is connected to a charger and the time to full charge is being calculated. After a few minutes, the time to full charge will be displayed.
    Time to full charge
  3. Tap the battery history graph (located below the battery percentage).
The Battery history graph displays the time since it was last charged to 100%.
  4. View the history of battery usage.
    • Battery Usage line graph.
    • Color coded Mobile network signal bar graph:
Signal strength has an effect on battery life.
      • Green

    • Color coded bar graphs for Wi-Fi, Awake, Screen on and Charging:
      • Wi-Fi
        : Wi-Fi radio is on/off.
      • Awake
: Running tasks/apps, however the screen is not necessarily on.
      • Screen On
: Indicates the screen is visible, not in standby.
      • Charging
: Indicates when a device is plugged into a charger and charging.
The charging line shows periods of partial charging (in green) since the last complete charge.
        • Blue
          : On
        • Black
          : Off
To improve battery life, you can:
  • Disable or uninstall apps (e.g., live wallpapers, etc.) that are consuming too much battery or RAM or aren't being used.
  • Contact the app developer if an app appears to cause excessive battery drain.
  • Adjust brightness settings to lowest setting or use Automatic brightness.
  • Turn off GPS when not in use
If disabled, certain apps or services may not work properly.
  • Turn off vibrate mode if not used.
  • Ensure battery optimizations aren't ignored; make sure accounts (e.g., email, Facebook® , etc.) are selected and optimized as preferred.
