ASUS ZenPad Z8s - Restart Device

Here's how to restart your ZenPad Z8s if it crashes and resets, freezes or runs slowly.

Restarting your ASUS ZenPad™ Z8s can help if you experience continuous resetting / rebooting, crashing, freezing, or if the touchscreen is unresponsive.

Since this device has a non-removable battery, the restart (soft reset) process can be used to simulate a 'battery pull' when the device is unresponsive, frozen or doesn't power on.

In rare cases, a restart could affect data (e.g., backup in progress, cached data, etc.).

Preferred Method

Press and hold the

Power button

(right edge; bottom button when held in portrait) until the 'Power off' prompt appears then release.

If the device is unresponsive, attempt the alternate method.

to confirm.

The process may take up to 90 seconds to complete.

Alternate Method

Press and hold the

Volume down and Power/Lock button

(on the right edge; bottom button when held in portrait) for approximately 20 seconds or until the screen turns off then release.

If the Power button method doesn't work, charge the device for a minimum of 4 hours using the supplied charger or 12 hours if using a different charger.
