Verizon Internet Gateway - Turn Network Name (SSID) On / Off

Here's how to display or not display the Wi-Fi name for the Internet Gateway to other devices.
  • Your Verizon Internet Gateway has a network name or SSID (Service Set Identifier) assigned to it.
  • The SSID is typically broadcast by default, but can be turned off for greater security.
  • When turned off, any device attempting to connect for the first time must know the SSID name and password to set up a manual connection to it.
    For the easiest connection experience, it's recommended to leave broadcast on.
  1. Access the router admin page.
  2. From the left menu, click
    Wi-Fi
     then
    Primary Network
    .

  3. From the 'Primary Network' section click the gear icon gear icon to expand the section.
  4. Enable On icon or disable Off icon Broadband Wi-Fi network name (SSID).

  5. Click
    Apply Changes
     (upper-right).
