The Administrative and Telco Recovery Charge FAQs

This charge helps defray and recover certain direct and indirect costs we or our agents incur, including:

• Costs of complying with regulatory and industry obligations and programs, such as E911, wireless local number portability and wireless tower mandate costs;
• Property taxes; and
• Costs associated with our network, including facilities (e.g., leases), operations, maintenance and protection, and costs paid to other companies for network services.

These surcharges are Verizon Wireless charges, not taxes or government imposed fees. These charges, and what's included, are subject to change from time to time.

No. The Administrative Charge has been on the bill since XXXXX and effective 6/23/22 it was renamed the Administrative and Telco Recovery Charge.

The charge helps defray certain direct and indirect costs we incur, including charges we, or our agents, pay local telephone companies for delivering calls from our customers to their customers; property taxes; and the costs we incur responding to regulatory obligations.

It also helps defray costs associated with our network, including facilities, operations, maintenance and protection, and costs paid to other companies for network services. By including certain costs associated with protecting, operating and maintaining our network, Verizon is able to provide a network and customer experience to our customers.

The 6/23/22 increase applies to postpaid lines with voice-capable devices (e.g., smartphones, basic phones, tablets, smartwatches and laptops). For postpaid lines with data-only devices (e.g., jetpacks), the Administrative and Telco Recovery Charge will remain at $0.06/line. The Administrative and Telco Recovery Charge does not apply to prepaid lines.

We review this charge from time to time, and make adjustments to recover some of the administrative and telco expenses and costs of complying with regulatory requirements we incur to provide service. This charge is comparable and generally lower than aggregate fees across the industry.

No. This is a Verizon Wireless charge and is retained by Verizon. It is not a governmental tax or a government imposed fee.

The Administrative and Telco Recovery Charge is applied to each line on the account. Effective 6/23/22, the monthly charge for lines with voice-capable devices will increase from $1.95 to $3.30 per line. The charge for lines with data-only devices will remain $0.06.

While they may be called different names, similar cost recovery charges have been common across the industry for many years.
