Understanding Your Online Bill
My Verizon provides an interactive online bill to show you the information you want to know. The bill includes explanations of charges and services, as well as links to analysis tools that will help you ensure you're on the best plan for you. Let's take a look.
First, sign in to My Verizon.
On the My Verizon Overview page you'll see your billing information, which includes your current balance, recent payments, any scheduled payments, due date and payment status. Click on the link to view your current bill.
Here you'll find your most recent billing statement. To access past bills, click the drop down at the top of the page and select the desired statement month.
The Bill Summary is a high level view of all your current charges, current balance, and payment due date for the selected billing statement. This section includes monthly charges and usage charges for voice, data, messaging, roaming and purchases, such as app downloads or ringback tones and more, when those are incurred. Any applicable taxes, fees, and surcharges are included as well.
Additional information regarding services and charges can be found by clicking the "Need to Know Information" or "Explanation of Charges" links located in the top right corner of the Bill Summary tab. You may also see the "i" icon throughout your bill where there have been changes or where important information is shared. Click the icon for more info.
For a quick explanation of usage details and charges, click the question mark icons located throughout the bill.
The "Charges By Line" tab provides a breakdown of charges by individual line on the account.
When you click any of the phone numbers listed you'll see monthly charges, usage and purchase charges, credits, taxes, fees, and surcharges for that particular line of service, in addition to that line's overall balance for the month.
If you're making monthly payments with a Device Payment agreement, this section will provide you details on your monthly charges. For more information about these charges, please watch the video on Understanding Device Payments on your First Bill.
Proration charges are charges for a partial month. Since many of your Verizon services are billed in advance, if you changed a calling plan, restored service from a voluntary suspension or activated a new line in the middle of a billing cycle, those charges would appear here in the "Monthly Charges" section.
These charges may be reflected in three different sections based on the circumstance: Previous, New, and Month In Advance. Tool tips have been provided to explain charges and refunds associated with prorating.
If you were billed in advance for an item, a credit for the advanced billing will appear, followed by a charge for the same date range. Click the tool tip question marks for additional details.
If you are on a share plan, you'll have a "Shared Usage" tab, where you can see the breakdown of your shared usage across all lines on your account.
The Calls & Messages and Data tabs provide voice, messaging, data, and roaming details and charges by line of service.
To view details for messaging, and roaming, click the highlighted links found just below the mobile number in the drop down box.
The Data tab offers insight into how you use your data. Account Owners can Select "data Utilization" from the drop down menu to get a visual categorization of data usage at both Account and Line level. This will give you insight into how you're using your data; empowering you to make educated choices on data usage, plans, and device options. Select "Data Usage" to get a detailed breakout of actual data used broken out by date and time.
You can also set Data Usage Alerts to get real time alerts as you approach your data allowance. You can add this feature under the Family Safeguards & Controls section in My Verizon.
We invite you to visit My Verizon to get more details about your account with Wireless Account Analysis. Enroll in paperless billing to receive notifications by text or email when your online bill is ready.
