Starting on November 3, 2019, mobile devices manufactured between 2006 – 2016 may have their GPS accuracy impacted due to Global Positioning Service (GPS) Rollover. For more information, see the FAQs below or visit our Global Positioning Service Rollover page.
The GPS date is a "week number" that resets to zero every 1,024 weeks. The GPS Clock is targeted to roll over on November 3, 2019, and may cause issues with specific applications that utilize navigation and location services.
This is an industry impacting event (all carriers). The rollover can result in impaired GPS performance.
It may not work correctly based on your device. There is no impact to calling, texting, data or 911 but some commercial apps may be impacted (ex., VZ Navigator).
